Assign Grandstream DP752 Cordless Handsets to Separate Lines

A Grandstream DP752 (or DP750) is a single cordless base station that can host several DECT handsets and several SIP accounts (lines). A common misconfiguration is that every handset is pointed at the same line — for example all handsets display 206, and only one of them actually rings.

The base itself is working: it can register several extensions (e.g. 206, 207, 208) at the same time. The problem is the handset ↔ line mapping inside the base. This guide assigns each handset its own line so all handsets ring and place calls independently.

Access note. The DP752 web UI is only reachable on the local network the base is plugged into (its LAN IP, e.g. http://192.168.x.x). Perform these steps on-site, or have Telair push a provisioning template. The lines (SIP accounts) must already exist on your Telair account before a handset can use them — a new line may require adding an extension/seat.

  • Confirm how many cordless handsets you have and how many lines you want (one line per handset for fully independent ringing).
  • Have the base’s admin password (default admin — change it if still default).
  • Know each handset’s HS number (HS1, HS2, HS3 …). The handset number is shown on the handset screen and in the base UI under Status → DECT Base Status.

STEP 1 — Log in to the base

On a computer on the same network as the base, browse to the base’s LAN IP address (e.g. http://192.168.40.53). Log in with the admin username and password.

STEP 2 — Confirm all handsets are subscribed

Go to Status → DECT Base Status (or DECT → General Settings). Verify that every handset you expect is listed as Subscribed / Registered to the base. If a handset is missing, subscribe it first (DECT → General Settings → Enable Subscription, then on the handset run Register / Subscribe). A handset that is not subscribed cannot ring at all — this alone can cause “only one phone works.”

STEP 3 — Confirm the SIP accounts (lines) exist

Go to DECT → SIP Account Settings. You should see one row per line, each with an Account Active = Yes, a SIP User ID (the extension, e.g. 206, 207, 208) and an Account Name. If a line you need is missing or inactive, it must be provisioned by Telair first — stop here and contact support to add the extension.

STEP 4 — Map each handset to its own line (the fix)

Go to DECT → Handset Line Settings. This page is a grid that connects SIP accounts (lines) to handsets (HS1–HS5). For each line, choose which handset(s) may use it for incoming calls:

  • Line 206 → enable on HS1 only
  • Line 207 → enable on HS2 only
  • Line 208 → enable on HS3 only

Un-check any handset that should no longer share a line. The goal is exactly one handset per line (unless you deliberately want a shared/pooled line). This is the setting that makes each handset ring on its own extension instead of all of them tracking line 1.

Field names vary slightly by firmware. On some versions the grid lives on DECT → SIP Account Settings with per-handset checkboxes in each account row, and the outgoing line is set separately (Step 5). The concept is the same: assign each account to a single handset.

STEP 5 — Set each handset’s outgoing (default) line

Still under DECT → Handset Line Settings (or DECT → Handset Settings on some firmware), set the Outgoing Default Line for each handset to its own account:

  • HS1 → outgoing line 206
  • HS2 → outgoing line 207
  • HS3 → outgoing line 208

This ensures each handset also places calls from its own extension and shows the correct caller ID.

STEP 6 — Save and apply

Click Save, then Apply (or Save and Apply). The base may prompt to reboot the handsets — allow it. Each handset should re-register and, after a moment, display its own extension number instead of the shared one.

  1. On each handset, confirm the screen now shows its own extension (206, 207, 208 …), not the same number on all of them.
  2. Call each cordless extension from another phone — the correct single handset should ring.
  3. Place an outbound call from each handset and confirm the caller ID / extension is its own.

If a handset still shows the wrong line, re-check its row in Handset Line Settings (Step 4/5) and confirm it is subscribed (Step 2).

  • A handset never rings for its line — it is probably not enabled for that account in Handset Line Settings, or it is not subscribed to the base.
  • Two handsets ring together — both are still enabled on the same account; leave only one handset checked per line.
  • A line won’t activate — the extension may not be provisioned on your Telair account yet, or the base can’t reach the SIP server (check network/firewall). Adding a brand-new line usually means adding an extension/seat — contact Telair support.
